A little about me

Pleasure to meet you….

It is a great thing to start life with a small number of really good books which are your very own.
— Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Growing up, I always had a book in my hand, often reading three or four books at once. I rocked my way through the ‘80s and ‘90s with permed hair and a headband, but never pegged pants. Along on the journey were Nancy Drew mysteries, Harriet the Spy, the Babysitters Club, and anything written by Beverly Cleary and Laura Ingalls Wilder.

This love of reading and writing culminated in a journalism degree. My first job was copy editing and paginating for a newspaper. It was a fantastic time of growing, learning, and creating. Harnessing my editing skills helped shape me into a better writer.

I have worked as a freelance writer for more than 25 years. My first children’s picture book was written in college, and rightfully has never seen the light of day. I needed to write, and write, and write some more.

I slowed down and gained some life experience, but I never gave up. A big life curveball inspired my stories. With my husband’s encouragement and support, and lots of hugs from my kids, I finally fulfilled my dream. So now here I am, with my own website as a published author.

I love writing and the creativity of how a story comes together, and the interaction between characters...it truly is creating a new world. My goal is to write fun, meaningful books that help children learn and hopefully prompt family conversations. I want to help spark curiosity in young kids.

I hope you enjoy!
